ABOUT US

College affordability is an important issue impacting the future economic strength of the country. The lack of financial resources proves to be the main obstacle that prevents students from attaining a college education. With college tuition and related costs escalating, the financial resources needed to support a college education constitutes the most serious challenge for many families, where in most instances, the younger generation has to work full time to contribute to the household income. To help overcome this obstacle, Pig on the Pond Community Festival was created over 20 years ago to help raise funds for much needed scholarships.

In 2016, Project Scholars, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was formed in order to hold additional fundraising events.  The mission of Project Scholars is to provide educational scholarships and other support to local students, positioning them to lead successful and impactful lives in their chosen communities. The Pig on the Pond Community Festival is the signature fund-raising event of Project Scholars. Donations are another important aspect in achieving the organization's mission, and as such, Project Scholars has developed a partnership with the Community Foundation of South Lake to manage and build philanthropic resources.
